call of the fire

In yoga, "fire" (or "Agni" in Sanskrit) refers to the third element in the traditional system of the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and ether) and is the force of transformation itself. Agni is the inner flame: the digestive fire, the fire of perception, the fire that burns away what holds you back.

In the context of our "Call of the Fire" retreat, fire represents heat, will, and radical transformation. It lives in the solar plexus (Manipura), our third chakra which is the seat of personal power, confidence, and inner drive. And where better to call in this fire than the Sacred Valley itself— land shaped by the sun the Inca revered as Inti, ancestor and life-giver, whose light still falls on Machu Picchu each morning the way it has for centuries.

Fire calls us to action: to burn through stagnation, ignite our purpose, and step fully into our own strength.

Throughout this retreat, we will explore practices that awaken and stoke this inner flame — cultivate courage, clarity, and the will to transform. Fire calls us to embrace intensity, discipline, and the power already burning within.

This retreat is intended to connect with the medicine of the purpose.

Ignite to transform.
Ignite to rise.
Ignite to create.

Testimonials

  • I’ve practiced with Birdie for many years, and she’s such a kind, supportive, and grounded teacher. Her classes always leave me feeling refreshed and connected—to myself and the wonderful community she’s created.

  • I would go again

    —Justin P (Retreat Family)

  • I attended a weekend retreat just outside of Bend led by Birdie this summer. I was a little nervous going in because I had never met Birdie before and did not know any of the other women attending the retreat, but Birdie did a great job connecting with everyone and making us all feel welcome, comfortable and free to show up authentically during our time together. She was so thoughtful with all of the activities she planned for us and adjusted activities based on the unexpected heatwave on a desert retreat. It’s inspiring to spend time with Birdie and experience her passion for healing and spirituality.

    —Natalie C (Retreat Family)

  • I had the wonderful opportunity to be included on Birdie’s retreat in the high desert of Oregon this past summer. Birdie was an amazing facilitator, balancing everyone’s needs as we navigated a heat wave while also creating space for connection, spiritual care, and yoga practice. This retreat was an incredibly healing experience for me. Birdie was well planned and made thoughtful connections with the land steward ahead of time to ensure that everyone was comfortable and care for. I can’t wait to go on another one of Birdie’s retreats in the future!

    —Allison A (Retreat Family)

  • Birdie is one of a kind. She's a lovely spirit with a light and soothing energy. I rarely miss our weekly yoga class and was delighted to get to join her on her first ever yoga retreat. Our time together in the high desert was beautiful, a perfect mix of solitude and connection, quiet time and thoughtful conversation, movement and stillness, joy and tenderness. I was able to be my sometimes quiet, often solitary self with community close by and available for holding space, sharing food, and engaging thoughtfully. We felt purely authentic and HELD, sharing joy and grief and gratitude, laughing and crying and supporting one another with ease. It was as though we weren’t strangers, the group of us, having come together to honor and practice the yogic traditions of self-awareness, inward reflection, and healing in nature. Birdie weaved together this tender, healing weekend for us and with us, allowing us to cocreate the experience our bodies and spirits craved. I'm grateful for her airy spirit and kind heart and look forward to my next opportunity to retreat in nature with her. 💚

  • Birdie is a breath of fresh air. I first met Birdie during a pivotal time in my life, and I immediately felt peace in her presence. She opens her heart and physical space in such a creative, loving way. She gently yet powerfully invites you to connect with yourself and with those around you. She has a true and genuine passion for people. Thank you for guiding us to a place that we can call "home" wherever we may be!
