A 7-day, 6-night Sacred Valley journey into yoga, ceremony, nature, and the fire within.

Embark on a transformative journey with Birdie to the breathtaking Sacred Valley of Peru. Experience the wonder of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, while staying at the serene Samadhi Retreat Center, surrounded by the majestic Andes mountains and the ancient culture of the Sacred Valley.

This retreat unfolds during a remarkable celestial season — just after a total solar eclipse and beneath the August Full Moon and penumbral lunar eclipse happening on August 17. As we gather in Peru, we'll use this natural rhythm of light and shadow as an invitation to reflect, release, and reconnect with what is ready to be ignited within us.

Through daily yoga asana practice, meditation, breathwork, nature hikes, and connection with the land, we'll explore the fire of purpose and courage.

You'll take part in a traditional Despacho Ceremony guided by local healers, immerse yourself in the culture through connection with local artists and healers, and share meals, stories, and stillness with a community of like-minded travelers walking a similar path.

Samadhi Retreat Center is a sanctuary for those seeking a deeper connection. Set in the serene landscape of Peru’s Sacred Valley, about an hour and 45 minutes from Cusco Airport, Samadhi is surrounded by the majestic Andes mountains and the rich, ancient culture of the region.

Thoughtfully designed with sacred geometry inspired by the seven chakras, the center offers two beautiful spaces for practice: the Inti Shala, a sun-filled yoga space overlooking the mountains, and the Killa Shala, a more intimate moon space for evening practice, meditation, and stillness.

Between practices, settle into a soaking tub, read in a hammock, enjoy nourishing local foods grown in Samadhi’s own garden, or receive a massage right on the grounds. Every detail invites you to slow down, reconnect, and fully immerse yourself in the magic of the Sacred Valley.

call of the fire

In yoga, Fire or Agni in Sanskrit, is the force of transformation itself.

Agni is the inner flame: the digestive fire, the fire of perception, the fire that illuminates what is true and burns away what no longer serves us.

In the traditional system of the five elements, earth, water, fire, air, and ether, fire is the element of heat, action, will, and transformation.

In our Call of the Fire retreat, we turn toward this inner flame.

Fire lives within the solar plexus, Manipura, the third chakra and energetic center associated with personal power, confidence, purpose, and inner drive. It is the part of us that knows when it is time to move, to choose, to act, and to step fully into our own strength.

And where better to call upon this fire than the Sacred Valley of Peru, a land shaped by the sun the Inca revered as Inti, ancestor and life-giver, whose light continues to fall across the Andes and Machu Picchu.

A SKY IN TRANSITION

Our retreat takes place during a remarkable celestial season.

Just days before we gather in Peru, a total solar eclipse will cross the skies of the world.

Then, during our retreat, on August 17, 2027, the Full Moon will coincide with a penumbral lunar eclipse.

A penumbral lunar eclipse is the most subtle kind of lunar eclipse. Rather than passing through Earth's darkest shadow, the Moon moves through the outer edge of Earth's shadow, the penumbra, creating a gentle, sometimes barely perceptible dimming of the Moon.

There is no dramatic disappearance.

Instead, there is a subtle shift between light and shadow and perhaps that is the perfect metaphor for the work we are coming to do, because transformation doesn’t always happen dramatically.

BETWEEN LIGHT & SHADOW

During our week together, we'll use the rhythm of the sky as an invitation to tune inward.

  • What are you ready to release?

  • What has been asking to change?

  • Where have you been holding yourself back?

  • What is possible?

The Full Moon offers a moment of illumination, a chance to see what is ready to be acknowledged, celebrated, or released.

And the subtle passage of the Moon through Earth's shadow reminds us that even when the light changes, it is never truly gone.

Our work here is not to chase some extraordinary experience, it is to become present enough to notice what is already happening within us.

Testimonials

  • I’ve practiced with Birdie for many years, and she’s such a kind, supportive, and grounded teacher. Her classes always leave me feeling refreshed and connected—to myself and the wonderful community she’s created.

  • I would go again

  • I attended a weekend retreat just outside of Bend led by Birdie this summer. I was a little nervous going in because I had never met Birdie before and did not know any of the other women attending the retreat, but Birdie did a great job connecting with everyone and making us all feel welcome, comfortable and free to show up authentically during our time together. She was so thoughtful with all of the activities she planned for us and adjusted activities based on the unexpected heatwave on a desert retreat. It’s inspiring to spend time with Birdie and experience her passion for healing and spirituality.

    —Natalie C (Retreat Family)

  • I had the wonderful opportunity to be included on Birdie’s retreat in the high desert of Oregon this past summer. Birdie was an amazing facilitator, balancing everyone’s needs as we navigated a heat wave while also creating space for connection, spiritual care, and yoga practice. This retreat was an incredibly healing experience for me. Birdie was well planned and made thoughtful connections with the land steward ahead of time to ensure that everyone was comfortable and care for. I can’t wait to go on another one of Birdie’s retreats in the future!

    —Allison A (Retreat Family)

  • Birdie is one of a kind. She's a lovely spirit with a light and soothing energy. I rarely miss our weekly yoga class and was delighted to get to join her on her first ever yoga retreat. Our time together in the high desert was beautiful, a perfect mix of solitude and connection, quiet time and thoughtful conversation, movement and stillness, joy and tenderness. I was able to be my sometimes quiet, often solitary self with community close by and available for holding space, sharing food, and engaging thoughtfully. We felt purely authentic and HELD, sharing joy and grief and gratitude, laughing and crying and supporting one another with ease. It was as though we weren’t strangers, the group of us, having come together to honor and practice the yogic traditions of self-awareness, inward reflection, and healing in nature. Birdie weaved together this tender, healing weekend for us and with us, allowing us to cocreate the experience our bodies and spirits craved. I'm grateful for her airy spirit and kind heart and look forward to my next opportunity to retreat in nature with her. 💚

  • Birdie is a breath of fresh air. I first met Birdie during a pivotal time in my life, and I immediately felt peace in her presence. She opens her heart and physical space in such a creative, loving way. She gently yet powerfully invites you to connect with yourself and with those around you. She has a true and genuine passion for people. Thank you for guiding us to a place that we can call "home" wherever we may be!
